Low-fat doesn’t mean healthy.
Don’t get distracted by food packaging with buzz words like “fat-free” and “gluten-free”. It doesn’t automatically make these foods healthy. There’s a term for this distraction – it’s called the “health halo”. It’s given to certain foods that are perceived as healthy solely because of these claims.
The problem…people tend to overbuy and overeat these foods.
When brands remove fat from a product, they replace it with more sugar, salt, and additives to make it more palatable. Don’t take the package’s word for it! Dig a little deeper and the read nutritional information. And of course, the recommended serving size.
